How critical is the machine to daily output?
What is the practical cost of downtime?
Is there any backup path if this machine stops?

Controls and hardware condition

Are PLC, HMI, drives or motion platforms obsolete?
Are spare parts difficult to source?
Are there recurring faults tied to control behavior?

Documentation reality

Do drawings still match field condition?
Are panel labels and I/O references still reliable?
Are there undocumented modifications?

Support continuity

Who currently supports the machine?
Does recovery depend on one person or one vendor?
Is there a usable service history for future work?
